Viewers will apparently be able to vote to select American Idol 10′s finalists online, two reports and a Twitter page reveal. Executive producer Nigel Lythgoe previously revealed that the semi-final rounds would be dropped, and this news explains how the show will go from hundreds in Hollywood to 15 finalists. (Yes, 15.) American Idol will have online voting to select 15 finalists
After years of rumors that American Idol would move from its comfortable Tuesday and Wednesday night timeslots, the show is officially moving to Wednesdays and Thursdays, and will once again have hour-long results shows, meaning Fox lied about that yet again.

At 1 p.m. ET today, American Idol will officially announce something we already know: Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will join Randy Jackson as judges for the show’s 10th season. Ryan Seacrest will make the announcement and that will be followed by a press conference, although it’s not clear if that’s going to be a real press conference or a bullshit one like ABC’s DWTS cast announcement.
