Michael Lynche out after bland final four generate 27 million fewer votes than last year’s 13 May 2010 at 7:40 am by admin

Michael Lynche was almost voted out American Idol 9 five weeks ago, but he was saved by the judges. And let’s not forget how he was disqualified back in January, at least according to the media, which spread a rumor

+ Fox schedules Idol finale to run seven minutes late By admin 10 May 2010 at 1:51 pm and have No Comments

The May 26 finale of American Idol has been given 127 minutes to announce the winner, but it’s unlikely that will be enough time. Variety reports that “Fox has confirmed that the Wednesday, May 26 finale ..

+ Aaron Kelly leaves American Idol just in time to avoid awful movie songs By admin 06 May 2010 at 8:27 am and have No Comments

“You guys don’t love Wednesdays,” Ryan Seacrest pointed out to the contestants during last night’s results shows. Although they dislike Wednesdays because one of them hast to go home, and I like them because we get one step closer to the end even if we have to drag out the process of moving toward the end of the season, at least we all agree.

+ American Idol ratings down, has disregard for viewers, but who cares: it’ll make money By admin 04 May 2010 at 5:39 pm and have No Comments

American Idol’s ratings and buzz are down significantly, but it’s making money and may do better next year thanks to the economy, and that’s pretty much all that matters. This season, the show has an average of 24.4 million viewers, which is down 7.5 percent from last year; among 18- to 49-year-olds, it’s down 8 percent. But that’s “still 72 percent ahead of its nearest rival,” Reuters reports

+ American Idol product placement interrupted by Siobhan Magnus’ exit By admin 29 April 2010 at 8:20 am and have No Comments

Glass blower Siobhan Magnus exited American Idol last night, which was unsurprising because she’s a better singer than TV personality; she’s too awkward for people to warm up to her, which is why we now have a relatively bland group remaining. Siobhan was in the bottom three–which was formed after dramatic and pointless pairing of the remaining six finalists–with Casey James and Michael Lynche, who was the first sent back to safety. The contestants performed…

+ Idol needs to give back 144 minutes of my life By admin 22 April 2010 at 9:19 am and have No Comments

Although I wasn’t exactly looking forward to Idol Gives Back, I forgot what makes it so awful–beyond the fact that it’s largely a two-hour results show, or in the case of last night’s episode, 144 minutes. That’s 24 minutes past the scheduled end because neither Fox nor the producers have any respect for their viewers. (It’s one thing to schedule a long episode, so DVRs can be automatically adjusted, and another to just run over..

+ Crystal Bowersox said she was "betrayed by Seacrest," is being investigated by tabloids By admin 20 April 2010 at 9:02 am and have No Comments

Last week’s Ryan Seacrest-as-Crystal-saving Superman story was odd: a TMZ story credited Seacrest with convincing Crystal Bowersox to stay in the competition, and then E! followed up with the most ass-kissing story I’ve read all year, one that even quoted Seacrest giving himself credit. Basically, he used a low moment in Crystal’s experience to make himself look good. As the presumed front-runner, she’ll probably be able to handle any negative backlash (and speaking of that,…

+ Two eliminations, no surprise as Katie Stevens, Andrew Garcia leave American Idol By admin 15 April 2010 at 8:03 am and have No Comments

Despite the sad faces of their fellow finalists, Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia’s departure from American Idol 9 wasn’t a surprise nor really sad.

+ Rickey Minor leaving American Idol to join Jay Leno By admin 13 April 2010 at 8:47 pm and have No Comments

American Idol musical director Rickey Minor is leaving one mediocre show for even more mediocre show: he’ll become the band leader on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, replacing Kevin Eubanks, who announced he was leaving yesterday. NBC announced that he’ll start work June 7, a few weeks after American Idol 9 ends, and said that “Minor will continue to consult and work with ‘American Idol’ creator Simon Fuller on various projects.” The Tonight Show’s… keep reading » » read the full story and comment , or find the latest news about American Idol 9 » follow reality blurred on Twitter and on Facebook
