American Idol 9 drops individual Facebook, Twitter profiles for semi-finalists

The cast of Jersey Shore has been busy proving they are not actors by reenacting scenes from Oscar-nominated movies on TBS’ Lopez Tonight this week. Among the scenes are Snooki as Brad Pitt in Inglorious Basters, Vinny in Inglorious Basterds, and Pauly D in Avatar, who does the best acting, perhaps because he’s on-screen for only a few seconds and does nothing except a hand gesture.

The remaining male American Idol 9 semi-finalists will perform tonight instead of tomorrow night because one of the women is sick. Fox announced that “Due to medical issues which would prevent Crystal Bowersox from performing tonight, the 10 male semifinalists will perform this evening, and the 10 female semifinalists will perform tomorrow night.” There were no further details, and no one seems to know what’s wrong with her or why it’ll be better tomorrow night,..

However, this season, Fox has given each of the semi-finalists an official/controlled Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook profile, and a web site has aggregated how many followers each semi-finalist has.

Last night, 38.6 million people watched the debut of Undercover Boss following the Super Bowl. That makes it the biggest premiere of a reality show ever, and the third-best performance for a post-Super Bowl show ever, after Survivor Australia in 2001.
